This is our Podcast. We're a Bible believing Church meeting at Barncroft Primary School, Havant, Hampshire, UK
10-05-2020
This second of our studies in the Epistle of James was given by pastor Barry Forder on the 10th May 2020 as part of our family service.
In this session, we look at why James says we should no longer be deceived about temptation, and why we should intentionally distance ourselves from our natural, fleshly, carnal nature and fully embrace the Word of God as an effective antidote to falling prey to temptations when they come.
But then James reminds us that just knowing what is right is not enough, we have to act on it and live it out.
If our faith is genuine it will overflow into the 'royal law' of 'good works' summarised by Jesus as the 'greatest commandment':
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these". Mark 12:29-31
May you be blessed and encouraged by this study.
