Chapter 18

This study, taught by pastor Barry Forder at our Sunday morning service on Sunday 5th June 2016 is the 19th in our verse-by-verse study through the book of Revelation. Babylon was place where almost all false religion began. It is like a corrupt tree whose branches have spread throughout the whole world, into every culture, yet retaining a likeness to the root. To accomplish its ends – that of sowing huge spiritual confusion – Satan has clothed the heart of this false religious system with the Roman Catholic church (as recorded in Revelation 17 – see Pastors blog : blog). In other words, the Roman Catholic church has been the cloak for this Satanic attempt to keep mankind from the truth, and will ultimately be the catalyst that will unite all world religions under one banner. The governments of the world will initially actively support and encourage this open displace of tolerance and supposed unity, but this will give this religious system enormous political power. Revelation 18 records how God will move the 10 kings of the revived Roman empire’, to rise up and cast her off their back and destroy her. Thus God’s judgement as recorded in Isaiah 14& 15 and Jeremiah 50&51 will be poured out on this religious deception that has been responsible for the death of multitudes of both Jews and followers of Jesus. Once removed, the world will be poised for Antichrist to take centre stage and the False Prophet will cause all men to worship Antichrist. May this study encourage you and deepen your love for God and His Word! To aid your personal study, the Powerpoint slides used in this teaching are available for download here, and a verse-by-verse text commentary of Revelation Chapter 18 is also available in the Pastor’s Blog section of this web site entitled: “The Destruction of Deception” Every blessing, Pastor Barry.
